5 Ideas for the Perfect South Carolina Wedding Aesthetic

5 Ideas for a Picture Perfect South Carolina Wedding Aesthetic - as told by a wedding photographer.

The perfect wedding aesthetic doesn't have to come at the cost of your kidney. From my experience as a wedding photographer - taking photos of weddings and endless decor you really only need a few key statements to give your wedding day that elevated look and feel. It's all in the details ladies! Here are some examples of details that I would focus on to ensure you have a picture perfect South Carolina Wedding Aesthetic.

Details , Details , Details

I want you to think of details as the key to achieving the elevated wedding aesthetic you're looking for. As a wedding photographer I have seen wedding after wedding make the same mistakes. They want this gorgeous day and spend tons on the venue but then leave everything else barren because the budget got tight - I totally get it. However, there are certain details that will go a long way in making your day feel cohesive and elevated, but not over the top.

Most times people think of details as flowers and elaborate center pieces. But to achieve this dreamy South Carolina wedding aesthetic you just need to embrace where you are. Imagine you are surrounded by big beautiful oak trees, Spanish moss and a building dripping with character on land that goes on and on for miles. You don't need much more than that to create a beautiful wedding aesthetic but you want it to feel like a wedding day - YOUR wedding day. Not to mention you want those details to feel like they fit with your look and personality. So let's get into a few details that can take your South Carolina wedding aesthetic up a few notches!

Here are the bare bones of things to consider..
  1. 1
    Bridal Party Accessories
  2. 2
     Guest Accessories
  3. 3
    Creative Seating Decor
  4. 4
    Original Tablescapes
  5. 5
    Unique Decorative Elements
That is way too vague to achieve the southern charm you are looking for but I wanted to help you visualize where I'm going with this. So let's break down each one together.

Okay let's chat about each one!

Bridal PArty Accessories

For that southern charm on a beautiful sunny South Carolina day I would go for parasol umbrellas. They are timeless and add so much character. You can opt for these instead of floral bouquets and they will still give you something interesting and playful to have during bridal party portraits. Look at the vision I have saved to my Pinterest board! Here's a sneak peak from For Better For Worse's Pin:

I can't wait to bring a photo like this to life!

Guest Accessories

Don't shy away from these , they make for an amazing photo opportunity! Let's face it, we can control what our guests wear to the wedding. (If I wanted to make my wedding an aesthetic dream I'd ask everyone to wear one color. We will save that for another blog post) What we can control is something that they will all have. Perfect for a South Carolina Wedding Aesthetic is fans. They don't have to be crazy elaborate but you could have your timeline printed on them or personalized with your wedding details. You could also just simply have fans available. I would pick one to two types. This will look especially amazing when I get photos of you saying your vows while your guests are watching. This will both add variety and provide cohesion to the overall picture. There are a TON of options on Etsy but even the simple ones you could buy in bulk would get the job done. Favors and aesthetics, check!

Creative Seating Decor

Don't forget about the chairs! This might seem silly but it's those silly little details that make the biggest difference! If you have the opportunity to upgrade your chairs, totally recommend. I know that can get costly especially when your list is growing. This is your sign to cut as many guests off your list as possible.... okay okay I'm just kidding! (or am I - ha!) What you can really do it add a little something to the chairs as an accent and it will transform the space, I promise! Outside, inside it doesn't matter. Most of your wedding is actually pictures of people sitting in chairs when you think about it. So this little detail will elevate atleast 50% of your wedding day photography. This too can be simple or complex, I think there's so much to be said for simple elegance.

I would skip the red chairs from the front... but look what else is peeping in this photo! The fans and parasols! (we are on to something here).

Unique Tablesacpes

What I'm about to tell you is NOT and I repeat NOT earth shattering information. haha - it is however, impactful to create a vibe-y wedding day aesthetic. For a nod to the southern belle, candlesticks and satin ribbons are calling. Okay, imagine the sun is setting. you have beautiful table scapes all around you slightly flickering as the flames pass in the breeze. The satin bows are catching some of that flickering light and the drippy wax - SO romantic. Absolutely picturesque if you ask me! Now not all venues let you light candles but they make a REALLY good mock candle that they sell right on Amazon. (these things have come along way - some flicker and move while the outside is real wax. Totally convincing.) Candles and ribbon, any fabric really, help bring a tablescape to life if you're trying to hold back on the florals.

Unique Decorative Elements

For this particular South Carolina wedding aesthetic I think tea sets or vintage glasswares would be incredible. Now this doesn't have to become a fairy garden or tea with the Mad Hatter. This can be very tastefully done with vintage glass types like clear / crystals, or milk glass. This can come in a variety of sizes giving any area in need of decor options that are visually appealing. When I'm photographing details of weddings I'm looking for texture, dimension and character. This glassware can provide all of that in one piece. Not to mention would look stunning with a monochromatic whit floral arrangement. I did something similar for my bridal shower and I went to local thrift stores to find the glassware I was looking for.

The details I have listed above are specifically chosen to help create southern charm but they will really help elevate any spring or summer wedding aesthetic. You can also use these decor elements to really lean into a theme like secret garden, old money, vintage tea party, cinderella, and so much more. Keep in mind, when you get married in a beautiful location YOU want to remain the focus on your wedding day. Which means you really don't need too much in the way of details! Atleast that's the way I see it as a wedding photographer. I capture the beauty you provide me. From my experience, including these items but keeping them minimal will help elevate your wedding day without stealing the show from the main event, you and your fiance.
